Hi,
Yes the thread title has changed!
I picked up a very cheap lowepro pro 1 insert yesterday so just need to find a good technical pack to put it in now.
I'm looking for a hiking one with front panel opening but also looking for one of the photobackpacker modified kelty P1 packs...don't need the cases / inserts just the pack..unlikely I know but...
Thanks,
Marc

Hi Marc,
not sure if your Deuter had an internal frame or not? I mention this because my f64 does NOT - just so that it's not a surprise to you if you source one!
The f64 is quite "minimal" compared to a Lowepro for example and for longer treks and heavier gear I prefer a framed pack (however it is quite lightweight when empty).
Apologies if you already know all this!
Regards,
Phil

Hi Phil,
yeah the deuter is brilliant. Internal frame, air comfort grid on back so no sweaty backs, really light, comfortable, etc, etc and panel loading with separate compartment at base...really recommend it for smaller 54 / other gear. I used it with my dakine and domke inserts, with chamonix, 3 lenses, 10 darkslides, paramo cloth, meter, etc, etc.
so very comfortable for long walks I have been spoilt by it.
I've been looking for larger versions of technical packs for the 8x10 gear but none will really work well, esp as most are top loading but I'm still looking to see if this might work.
some have base openings like the deuter so lenses, etc could go there and camera + dd's slot in top...
From past use the lowepros trekkers etc are just so heavy / bulky to start with (although the new aw trekker series do look like they might be good) hence looking at simpler f64...backpacks are allways a compromise... a bag that carries all my gear safely with fairly easy access and is very comfortable to wear...that's all I want!
Hope you're well,
Marc
