WTB: Fidelity Elite darkslide

I have a Fidelity Elite 4 x 5" film holder with a damaged darkslide. Something heavy was dropped on it and has dented and cracked the surface - it's split and I think it would scratch the film, though I could try superglue to seal the split. So I'm hoping that someone may have one they could pass on.

Thanks

Nick

Nick, I've successfully repaired a few over the last 3-4 years, there was no no chance of spares here in Turkey  .

You can tap the surface back flat but they usually still leak light, it's better to glue the crack and file away any rough bits, I use a pin to apply a tiny drop of super glue I then fill the crack with some black nail polish (satin finish). Later I polish the area so it's flat again.

I do have some spare darkslides but they are either here in Turkey or in storage in the UK, postage would be more than I paid, they were a £1 each at Wolverhampton Camera fair. The nail polish comes in handy touching up chips to paintwork on older cameras :D

If you're near Bollington, Cheshire Bob Rigby usually has spare darslides as well, can't remember what they charged me though, but more than a £1.

Ian

I've got a spare with the thick white bit you grab on the handle missing if you get desperate.
