Absolutely mint condition current model Fujinon 90/8 for sale. I've used this lens once, the previous owner bought this from Robert White earlier in the year and had never used it. The lens is mounted on a Linhoff/Wista clone panel.

A little history, I bought this a month or two ago in an attempt to save some weight in my pack, however I've decided that I like my existing 90mm lens too much to ever leave it behind, and there are other things I'd leave behind rather than switch to this lens.

I've had this lens out in the field once, it's absolutley pristine.

New price at RW's is £594, looking for something in the region of £380. PM me if you're interested.

Would a lens of this type be suitable to replace the 90mm f/6.8 Angulon that I got with my MPP?
The lens panel is conical in appearance.

Hi Keith,

If you can get a lens panel that will accept a Copal 0 sized shutter, then this lens will fit that panel. I know absolutely nothing about MPP panels however.

An MPP specific research project recently undertaken shows that the Fujinon will not fit the MPP coned panel.

I use 3 different 90mm lenses for 5x4 on a variety of cameras and none need a recessed lens board. The closest to an MPP are my Speed & Crown Graphics, and standard lens boards are fine.

Should add that an f8 Fujinon is smaller than my f5.6 Super Angulon, or f6.8 Grandagon, and the shutter will definately fit an MPP board, as its the same shutter as 150mm Symmars and Sironars.

Ian, Hi.
There may be a little confusion here between Speed Graphic and MPP cameras. I know nothing of the S.G.
The MPP panel we are discussing is NOT recessed, its a "Top Hat" design, because of the need to achieve a certain spacing (approx. 68mm, I recall) between the film plane and the front standard in order to keep the lens board on the inner focus tracks in a Mark VII body. It was originally intended for the Angulon 90mm f/6.8, and a modification to the Mk VIII body allowed front rise with the lens so positioned.
The shutter size is not the issue - as you propose, (I believe) if the hole is the correct size (and it can be in this case) the shutter will fit.
What will specifically NOT fit is the rear element of the Fuji 90mm f/8 lens, which interferes with the inner side of the coned panel before the threads will engage with the rear of the shutter.

Yes, I can see an MPP and 89mm Wray lens with a coned board for sale elsewhere.

It makes sense to use a coned board. On my Speed/Crown Graphics the lens sits on the end of the inner rail focused at infinity, with the front bed dropped its not practical for close focus.

MPP's (later models) were a great improvement over the Speed/Crown Graphics, but needed to be modified for lenses wider than 90mm, or to get better movements with later Super Angulons, Grandagons etc.

The normal MPP wide-angle conversion was to cut away part of the top portion of the body, I have a pre-Anniversary Speed Graphic which was similarly modified from new in the 1930's.

Just to throw in my 2p worth...I use a 90mm f8 S/Angulon on an MPP mk7 with a plain ordinary flat lensboard without any problems. Can also use (some) rising front with out having to hack away at the top of the casing. Assuming the Fuji back end is similar to the S/A then you should be able to use it on your MPP too.
