You can buy good 5x4 film holders for about £5 if you buy a few from one UK dealer and that's with a warranty. Most other reputable dealers aren't much more.

MPP holders are a problem because you don't know what the register is, they sold two versions because the first MPP cameras had a non International standard back, the register was different.

<sigh> which probably explains my slightly-softer-than-I'd-like MPP results - just measured it and it's about 5.2mm from the ground glass to the reference plane. Rats.
