WTB: MPP VII or VIII and seeking advice

Hi,
I'm a longtime 35mm amateur and a newcomer to this forum. After lots of research I think a Microtech VII or VII would give me what I want and can afford as an LF beginner. If anyone has or knows of a decent specimen of either of these cameras for sale (and I would be happy to look at a kit rather than just the camera), please let me know. I would also consider a comparable camera (Graphlex, Shin-Hao, etc) depending on price and advice from this forum.

Welcome to the forum Trevor and hope you enjoy you're journey into LF
There are some nice examples of MPP's that crop up here from time to time but don't limit yourself to this one make/model. There are some bargains to be had with Shen Hao, Chamonix, Wista's to name but a few!

So- I've found an MK VIII kit for sale in a provincial shop - original MPP hide case, Schneider 150mm lens, grafmatic film holder , individual film holders, 545 polaroid back, cable release, horseman 120 back. The downside is that it the inside of the camera looks grotty (could be dust, could be metal filings!):

The lens, bellows etc looks OK to me:

The shop assistants seem to know nothing about lf photography or this camera.
They're asking £350, but after conversations on the phone I think they'll take a significantly lower offer. Since I can't get to the shop, I'm wondering what kind of gamble this might be for a couple of hundred quid. If the camera turns out only to need a clean, it would suit my immediate purposes perfectly. If it needs any repairing/replacing of parts, is this even possible with a 1960's camera (it's serial number 13080, which I think places it quite early in the production of MK VIII's)?
Again, a novice is grateful for any and all input!

I'd go for it Trevor, the lens is worth £150 not to mention the Grafmatic film holder and all the other bits... in other words it's a bargain!
