WTB: Fuji 600mm-C Lens

Anything to sell (WTS) or looking for anything specific (WTB)? Anything advertised on this forum comes with the usual "buyer beware" advice; it is up to the purchaser to assure themselves of the integrity of the supplier and item being sold. It is also the responsibility of the seller to ensure that payment is forthcoming before parting with said item.

Hi Greg

an alternative (albeit more expensive) one than the apo-ronar

imho, you may be hard pressed tp find one in the UK

but I can say that the excellent midwestphoto have a new one for sale  for just a few cents under $2,400 - here's the link - http://www.mpex.com/browse.cfm/4,1375.html - my recollection is, is that their used site isn't always up to date but the LF man there is Jim Andracki - an outstanding guy, btw

Jeff at Badger over in WI is also highly rated in the LF community - https://www.badgergraphic.com/store/car ... tail&p=176, although his listing states 'special order' :P

with Fuji having stopped producing LF lenses some years ago, my guess would be that there are unlikely to be too many available fs on the used market at any time

don't forget that Customs will cane you on import/VAT if you buy from the US or anywhere else outside the fabled 'eurozone'

andrew

Customs are not in the habit of "caning" anybody. Any prices advertised on US sites are deemed to be exclusive of sales tax; Customs adds 6.7% duty to lenses and then our own sales tax (VAT). When you consider how relatively inexpensive some products from the US are, you are really only paying an additional 6.7% on the pre-tax price, which, even after the additions, usually ends up being less than buying it in the UK.

Don't forget, if duty and tax were not collected, we would have an even worse economic mess in this country 8)

Joanna

beg to disagree, Customs are in my opinion literally caning people and VAT is way way too high, btw

what I said had literally nothing to do with paying taxes here per se nor the state of the UK economy - maybe we should start up a new politically biased forum on here? As a former member of a profession that had significant connections to the UK taxation system, I well appreciate the need to collect taxes.....................

I hadn't realised that by making such a post I would be drawn into anything political but in my view we do 'live in rip off Britain' :@

all I was attempting (sic) to do here was to alert/remind Greg of the fact that he would be well and truly saddled with taxes if he imported from the US

It is worth pointing out too that the price on which you are charged the duty & VAT will depend upon the current exchange rate, & they seem to take the 'tourist' rather than the commercial rate. I don't think Fuji have stopped making LF lenses, but only sell them officially in Japan, I may be wrong of course. And I'd still like to find Fuji A/CS lenses for 10x8 coverage.
Not a Fuji, but have just noticed an Apo-Ronar, shutterless (?) 600/9 on ebay (large format lenses - all categories of photo) @ 395 or offers, but it weighs in at over 2 kg. Dennis.

Hey guys,

Sorry for the late reply, have been away for a few days.

I have opted to get an APR Ronar 600mm lens. It is a barrel lens but I am looking to get a shutter mounted, it has a 48 degree coverage and is best for reproduction at 1:1 and apparently has very sharp optics so I am quite exited to get using it.

Thanks for all of your help though!

All the best,

Greg

Hi Greg

good to hear that you're in business :D

why not give it a run as it is, without going to the expense (just yet) for the presumably expensive mounting into a shutter? John Brewer posted re this recently when he thought that you could easily get by without it - after all it's not a fast lens...........................

Well that is the plan I think Andrew,

However in the long term I think it could be an investment on the lens anyway. That way I can use it on other cameras as well as the one I am currently building.

But yeah, am going to do without for the time being, very exited for f256 I must say.

All the best,

Greg

thanks indeed Greg

yes, f256 indeed  never used that stop on any of the apo-ronars that I've owned - I'll stand to be corrected on here by others but I always felt that there was potential to remove the glass from the shutter and use it for pinhole photography :?: :?: ...............................

(highlighted in bold to see if this creates any interest)

best regards

and check out a recent post over on the LFPF regarding (from memory), a shuttered apo ronar which was sold by Andrew Glover aka 'dagor 69' on eBay which went for over five figures ($ wise that is)

Oh really,

I thought it would add a few hundred pound on the value but didn't realise it would make that much difference...

Well it is nice to know isn't it

well.........................

I suspect that one was very much of 'a one-off' - it only takes two fairly unlogical bidders to....................... :D

I can hope I guess! :D

How are your pursuits coming along Andrew?

All the best,
