WTB: Nikkor 450 f/9

Anything to sell (WTS) or looking for anything specific (WTB)? Anything advertised on this forum comes with the usual "buyer beware" advice; it is up to the purchaser to assure themselves of the integrity of the supplier and item being sold. It is also the responsibility of the seller to ensure that payment is forthcoming before parting with said item.

WTB: Nikkor 450 f/9

Post by timparkin » Sun Jan 22, 2012 7:05 pm Etc/GMT-1+01:00

Anybody have one? If you see one I'd love to know about it! Want it to complete my 8x10 lens range (110, 240, 300, 450, 600/800/1200) and also for my 4x5 triptych project (3x 4x5 backs side by side for in camera triptychs)

I'd possibly be happy if it were £500 but even then that is probably a bit higher than average. CliffPR is useful sometimes if you want to find the right price for something, just knock 40-50% off the CliffPR price and you'll be pretty close. Thanks though!

A great lens for sure. Quite heavy, well dense actually, I suppose. Have you thought of an ApoRonar 420mm or 480mm? I have the 420mm now and I picked up a barrel version for a third the price of the be-shuttered Nikkor. More common too. It's a dialyte design, I believe, and so able to be damned sharp - mine certainly is.
I like your triptych idea as all three pics are coplanar and taken at the same time: where do you get such a specialist back from? What camera body do you attach it to?
Thanks,
Charles

The plan is to buy an Arca Swiss (which I want anyway for it's 4x5/8x10 goodness) and then to create a new back from a set of old Arca Swiss 4x5s plus a bit of clock engineering nouse from my Father in law (and his workshop) and a custom bellows. Sticking together three 4x5 backs should be fairly easy..

I have thought about Ronars but would really like the Nikkor as I've been really happy with the Nikkor 200 and 300 M's

I actually bought one of these from the US (Fred from the View Camera store) only for it to arrive - well when I say it arrived, the packaging did but no lens. Someone at Parcel Force opened the package and pinched the contents. I could be waiting 3 months until I get my money back (and Fred has to go through the process for me). Very frustrating - fortunately I can wait for the money so might try to buy the one mentioned. I'm slightly dubious that at the same time mine went missing, one appeared on ebay for £280 with no photograph... hmmm...

Presumably Fred would have the serial number for the one he sent? :?:

OK - even though I'm still claiming for the previous one, I finally found one so thanks for the help everyone (it was a lady who was clearing all of her large format gear).
