WTB: Camera case for using in rucksack
Hi,
I'm looking for a solid case for my camera to fit into my rucksack.
Dimensions need to be 30(l)x22(w)x15(h) cm so basically the photo backpacker arca swiss case or similar.
Ideally lid which opens from width end not long end...but if not I can cannibalise that.
Anyone got anything similar?
Trying to avoid high shipping + import duties from further afield.
Thanks,
Marc

Perhaps something from Peli?

The 1300 or 1400 are the closest. And I can vouch for the robustness of the Peli Cases as we used them at work for transporting tapes around the country in the back of courier's vans day-in day-out. They survived for a good many years. The foam inserts can easily be customised as they are pre-cut into cubes.
Another alternative are the B&W cases from BWH available from Linhof Studio.

These also use pre-cut foam.

Suggest making a thin (c 3-4 mm) plywood box to fit. Cut ply to desired size; stitch the corners together with monofilament fishing line; coat interior & exterior of corners with thickened epoxy resin, about 10 mm each side of actual edges. Epoxy suppliers also give info on use. Pad interior with foam cut from inexpensive supermarket sleeping mat. QED.

Marc,
Have a look at the ICU's from F-Stop Gear, I recently bought one to use with my Lowe Alpine rucksacks and I'm very pleased with it.

Marc,
I face a similar predicament in that I want to carry my Ebony but keep it secure in a "proper" rucksack that'll be comfortable over distance.
Since i'm not prepared to pay the shipping/import charges for Kelty/Backpacker kit, I started looking at fishing kit and have so far found reel cases that perform perfectly for what I want.
I now have 4 reel cases, each of which take 2 lenses on panels and recently picked up a multiple reel case with dividers for the camera: http://www.nailorsfishing.co.uk/details.asp?ID=8753

Thanks for those suggestions. Will check wether the larger reel bag fits as if so will do the job just fine.
