For sale: Canon iPF 6400 24-inch Printer with fault

Anything to sell (WTS) or looking for anything specific (WTB)? Anything advertised on this forum comes with the usual "buyer beware" advice; it is up to the purchaser to assure themselves of the integrity of the supplier and item being sold. It is also the responsibility of the seller to ensure that payment is forthcoming before parting with said item.

For sale: Canon iPF 6400 24-inch Printer with fault

Hi Everyone,

This is my 4-year old printer that I have owned from new, but is now not working and requires at least one new print head. It failed a couple of months ago when I was preparing for my current exhibition. I couldn't afford the time to try to fiddle with it myself, or get it repaired, so I now have a new printer.

Just before it crashed, I had installed 5 new ink cartridges and most of the other 7 ink cartridges are about 75% full, meaning there's around £500 worth of ink in it. The ink cartridges are interchangeable with any iPF series x400 printers. I'd never had any problems at all with the printer until it failed.

It's currently advertised on Ebay for spares/repair with a starting price of £275, so I'm really just trying to recover the cost of the last few inks I installed. It would be criminal to just dump this in a skip as it's in great condition apart from the print head. The cost of a print head is about £300 and it may work perfectly after installing a new one, but I can't guarantee that.

If anyone would like this to try to repair, or for the inks, then it's yours for £250. The printer is large so it would be collection only (Northallerton) and I wouldn't be able to post the inks as they'd spill/leak in transit.

Kindest regards,

Rod.

Hi Everyone,

Really surprising that there have been 487 views on my original post, but no replies!!

So, the good news is there are still some LF forum users out there, but the bad news is that my printer is still unsold and occupying valuable space. Before I contemplate a visit to the skip, would anyone like the printer/ink for £200 or other offers?

Whatever happens to the printer, I intend to contact Canon concerning their environmental/recycling policies with regard to their LF printers - they contain huge amounts of plastic as well as electronics, are difficult to dispose of and not even the ink tanks are returnable for recycling, which is inexcusable.

Apologies for the rambling!

Kindest regards,

Rod.
