Hello from Sunny Porthcawl, Wales

Post by mark e mark » Mon Aug 10, 2009 10:13 pm Etc/GMT-1+01:00

Thanks to Paul O for flagging the site, I have now finally signed up. Have been using LF for over two years (MPP VII+ VIII 5X4), but my house extension has taken out any LF usage for nearly a year ( the room I use as a darkroom was one of the rooms being extended). I have also been shooting 6x12 with the MPPs (roll film back). I plan to get a 5x7 (as I now have a 5x7 devere), but and still deciding what to get (would like a second hand Walker XL but there is none around and the new price :( ).

Will let you know when I use the MPPs in anger, and leave the 35mm and 6x7 at home :)

Welcome Mark ... from your neighbour in sunny Barry!
If you fancy an outing let me know - I've recently started 5x7 with a Walker XL!

Hi Paul, I will be up for that. But I will be sorting out the house extension for the next 1-2 more weeks at least. I spent 2 hours last night removing brick dust of books (I seem to have a lot more book than I thought, which happen to be over the bench area where I develop my prints.

Good luck with the extension! I won't be available either for a couple of weeks but give me a shout when you're available.

Quick update Folks. My Walker XL 57 has arrived, been used, film developed and Devere enlarger kicked into life (but not used, there were some problems). Need to produce some prints sometime. However, I probably have one of the worst spare bedroom darkroom set ups out there (it was part of the extention)- it's got a window in THREE different walls
The plan was too make the new extra long room into two rooms, but we got fed up with the dust so my planned darkroom bed room with one window ended up twice the size with 3 windows. Lots of room though so I have a 5x4 enlarger (Blumfield) AND the 507 Devere :D

Welcome Mark and good to see a new member plying his craft with 5x7 too - it's a great image size + a new Walker too (I guess) as second hand Walker 5x7's just aren't about

Andrew you are correct. I saw a secondhand Walker 57 about 18 months ago on ebay- but it was in Spain.
