I'm Leon Taylor - I've been using Medium Format and 35mm cameras for about 10 years and have now decided it's time to get into grown-up cameras. I've just bought a Shen Hao 5x4 and am eagerly awaiting the arrival of a lens and some film so I can get going.

I've dabbled in 5x7 in the past with a strange pinhole contraption, which was great, but my enlarger only takes up to 5x4 negs and I found the 5x7 just a little too small for contacts.

I only use Black and White film (my fave is fp4+) and I dev and silver-print my own work. You can see some examples at my website http://www.leontaylor-photo.co.uk. I'm also a colleague of Mr Crone's in the Arena Group. I'm also one of the founder members of http://www.filmwasters.com which is a lighthearted sort of place where we try to concentrate on the creative use of film-based-photography, however it generally ends up with a large dose of irreverence added along the way - we publish regular podcasts and recently video podcasts, guest galleries and themed collaboration galleries.

My photography has been feeling a bit stale of late, so the move up to 'proper' cameras is giving me the well needed push that I needed to re-light my fire.

I'm glad I've found this place - hoping to tap in to the collective knowledge base to help me along the way

Hi Leon, good to see you here and that you've decided to go with 4x5. I think its a good all round format capable of delivering superb tonality which is something I know you will appreciate
