Hi all,

I'm a photographer based in the Midlands, and have just been bitten by the 5x4 film bug.
I shot 3 frames at photography college and talked my lecturers out of making me shoot any more as I wanted to be a press photographer.
17 years later (and a career in press photography) I've just bought a Toyo field camera and have started shooting my own projects between the paying jobs.

Not sure how much I can contribute as I'm still learning, but so far I haven't made any big mistakes yet, and thankfully, Tri-X is still as good as I remember it :D

Regards
Ed

Hi Ed

Welcome - I'm based in the Jewellery Quarter and have also turned to LF to keep the enjoyment going whilst doing the rest...

Fancy popping over for a coffee some time and having a chat? I've also got a processor you can have a play with until you find your own if you like...

Paul

Thanks all,

Paul, I'll let you know when I'm free and pop over and yes I've already spoken to Matthew from AG, handy as he lives round the corner and has dropped off some stuff for me.

Jobo arrives tomorrow, am looking forward (and scared) to see how it handles C41....

I'm guilty as charged and feel partly to blame as I went fully digital in 1999, but I feel a bit sad that some of my favourite films/chemicals aren't made any more, sign of the times I suppose...

Hi Ed

Did you used to work for the Echo in Cheltenham? I'm also a fromer press photographer, and worked for the Stroud News and journal/Wilts and Glos Standard etc from 1986-2002. My old chief photographer used to tell me about how he began his career with a VN plate camera, and I too have been dabbling with 5x4 over the past few years and now have a motley collection of MPP Micropresses and various lenses and bits and pieces.

Cheers

Matt

Hi Matt,

Yes, I left in 1999 and went to the Birmingham Post (when it was good...) Got lots of happy memories of working in the Costwolds.

Do you know Mark Osborne and Freia Turland?

Hi Ed

Yes, I've known Mark for many years and have met Freia a few times whilst working.
