Hello from the Loire!
Afternoon all
After an interesting conversation with Joanna, I've been let in. I did try to hide under the username Eckythump but living in France and having such a name didn't quite work
Who am I? As per my username but some people know me as Jools. I'm a pro who writes and provides images for various magazines. I've been doing pro work for a year now and things are slowly getting there.
Now, in the main I use a Canon 5D Mark II and every so often I use a Hasselblad 501CM. Just after I bought my Hassie, I did wonder if I should have in fact bought a large format camera
The idea has never left my head and now I find myself here.
Jools
PS And Mr Dunning if you're reading this, yes I know I tried dissuading you from LF but it was only because of my lack of work on the Hassie which I am trying to rectify.

Hi Jools, It's very good to see you here, I only just arrived myself
I wouldn't say you tried to dissuade me from LF, you made good points which helped me decide what to do.
Paul.

Re: Hello from the Loire!
Welcome to the darkslide both of you!
I personally will never give up my DSLR and MF gear but have found over the years that LF slows you down, makes you more aware of your surroundings and the ever changing light conditions and ultimately makes you think more about composition. Added to the fact that if you don't find it's for you, you can pretty much sell everything for what you bought it for!
Looking forward to all your contributions.

Yep as Paul said you can always sell the gear on at next to no loss.
Give it a go, you might like it.
I shoot digital for work so went back to 35mm for personal stuff, then MF, then LF and then onto wetplate all within 3 months.

Re: Hello from the Loire!
Thanks for the welcome folks.
I've also added my website into my signature so you can see what I do! You'll see exactly where my photographic influences lie.
Next week, I'd like to get up some new stuff as it's been too long without any image updates.

Thanks Joanna, I hadn't seen it!
Curiosity, I know this is slipping away from intros. In a couple of weeks, I am in the UK for an "event". Can I post the details somewhere on the board?

Ah but the little globe only appears when you're logged in. No good for attracting lurkers to one's website...
