I start LF in 1986 with sinar F and play a lot with Speed graphic or with a "Brand-Sinar" I made ( http://galeries.nikonpassion.com/displa ... 1183&pos=0 )

Le Sinar - c'est mon LF appareil le plus favoris'e aussi. Le Frankenappareil que vous avez cre'e presque rassemble le Sinar Handy. C'est tres courageux d'avoir trouv'e un facon de travailler avec le 47mmXL sur le meme Sinar.

my brand sinar work well and the 47XL too, I have got first slide token with it and it's marvelous. I have the same field of view than with a 12mm in 24x36 (120°) with the shifting posibility in 6x12. Building look very phalic and inside of churches as wide as you can see them.
I'm very happy with it.
exposition is perfect with the center filter, a lot of details but don't light the center filter with the sun or you will have ghost of the apperture blades....

you must be shooting in noir & blanc? I find I always get severe light fall-off with the 47mm XL.

It is not very well publicised, but the 47mm XL does have several millimetres of shift, particularly at closer focus (around 1-2 metres).

My 47mm XL is in a helicoid lens, so I can set the hyperfocal distance to 1 metre, shift by several millimetres and the image circle still covers it.

In contrast, if you focus at infinity, there will be virtually no shift capacity on a 5x4" negative.

You're right - I have a lot of 'ghosting' when shooting directly in the sun with such a wide-angle lens. Wide-angle lens hood for the equivalent of a 12mm lens on 35mm format anyone?

I use a center filter and F22 or F32 appertur and have no fall-off with slide film.
I use to focus on the ground glass with magnifer.
I use shifting only with 6x12 roll film back (56*118 61°x102° not so bad!) that allow 28mm shifting (the ground on the side.....)

What kind of helical mount you use? with whitch cammera?

Silvestri cameras use bayonet and helical mounts - so my 47mm XL lens is mounted in one, which means that it can be used to 'zone focus' as well as ground glass focussed on a wide-angle platform.

The great thing about the Silvestri bayonet mounts is that there is a Sinar-Silvestri plate adapter, so I can use my Silvestri 47mm XL on a Sinar too (although I almost never now, due to the extra weight).
