I thought it was about time I said hello, having been lurking on and off for a while! I'm new to large format - my son Tom has a few months head start on me :D I got back into photography 3 or 4 years ago with my first DSLR, after a long break. Trouble was although I learned quite a bit and ended up with lots of images, I wasn't really satisfied with the results. So earlier this year I decided to go back to shooting some film and bought a medium format camera off eBay. I found I enjoyed taking photos more but that I ended up with a large format mindset (taking time, using a tripod and spot meter) but I missed not having any camera movements. That lead to the inevitable call to Robert White and I bought a second hand Ebony 45S and haven't looked back since. In fact I've sold all my DSLR kit!

This weekend I was out at Anglesey Abbey near Cambridge and made my first LF image that I'm happy with, this was taken on Velvia 100 with a 210mm:

Still got a lot to learn, but I'm happy I'm heading in the right direction now!

Welcome Jonathan

There is nothing like taking a LF camera out for a walk - You can even take photographs sometimes

Enjoy

Welcome to the group.

Was your photograph taken at the lake that overlooks the mill in the distance?
