Hi, my name is Trevor Crone, I live in London and I've been hooked on black and white photography since the mid 1970's after seeing the Land exhibition at the Victoria and Albert museum.

My photography is mostly landscape (coastal) and the urban environment. I'm currently documenting the demise of the Ferrier Housing estate before its architecture is gone forever (some will inevitably say, 'about time'). I find I have to work to themes rather then the single stand alone image. I prefer that extended narrative.

I've been using view cameras since around 1999 and am a big fan of Ebony cameras. To date I have three, an SW23, SW45 and an SLW810. I enjoy their reliability, robustness, build quality and ease of use. I have too many lenses and really should think about selling a few.

I have my own darkroom equipped with a DeVere 504 enlarger with multigrade head. I contact print my 8x10 negatives. I'm also working on a series of portraits using the 8x10 camera.

My other weakness which helps keep me poor, is collecting photography books, mostly monographs.

My only real regret is I didn't get into LF photography sooner.

I'm a member of two photographic groups, Mirage and Arena, both groups meet regularly to discus ideas, show new work, invite guest speakers and to organise group exhibitions.

As an aside .... Trevor is responsible for getting me hooked on black and white photography! I came across some of his work in a photo mag (can't remember which one as it was donkeys years ago!).
The mag reproduced one of his photos of Talisker Bay, Skye - absolutely got me hooked!!!!!!!!! I think it was taken with a Pentax 6x7 and a 45mm lens and orange filter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In my opinion Trevor is one of the most accomplished landscape photographers currently working in the UK

Gosh you really do have a good memory Paul!!!! That one was taken again on the Pentax 6x7 using a fisheye lens. If I remember correctly the beach was Pett Levels, Sussex. However I over used that lens and soon tired of its effects. I of course placed the sheep skull on the beach How ones approach to photograph can change over time, I now much prefer the found 'object' and try not to alter things in anyway within my landscape/urban photography.

I'm sorry DJ it doesn't. Although I've used DD-X I didn't really get on with it. Much prefer PMK pyro

Hello there Trevor. I recall lots of your striking south coastal images in the Roger Maille's Creative Monochrome and if I recall correctly in Photo Art International. Roger even gave me an outing in PAI for which I was very grateful. Welcome in.

I too was influenced by the LAND exhibition.

Thanks Steve. I do miss the publications of Creative Monochrome. Roger certainly did a lot to for me. I do see him occasionally, although it has been over a year since we last met up
