Another try at LF
Continuing my efforts to get to grips with large format.
The image resolution is not the best - same problem with hosting site! It does however look better as an A3 print !
Any advice welcome.
Technical data: Fomapan 100, Rodinal 1:50 8' 30" @ 20C. Wista 4x5 90m SA 1/2 second f32 red filter.
Thanks
Andrew

Hi
That's nice. What speed are you rating the fomapan at? It looks like you've lost the shadow detail of the trees - but that could be the scan, or my 10 year old CRT monitor!
I've been thinking about trying fomapan 100 as it is so much cheaper than FP4. It has a reputation for being contrasty, so I had reckoned on using more dilute rodinal (or maybe D76 1+3) to keep the times reasonably long with my combiplan (30 second drain time and all that).
I'll be interested in how your experiments go.
Ian

Hi Ian
Thanks for the comments.
I rated the Fomapan at 100. There is more shadow detail than shows in the posted image - partly it is due to the scan and also the low resolution that it is saved at on my hosting site.
As a LF novice I am more than half way through my first box of Fomapan. So far I have stayed with Rodinal at 1:50 as this gives me a reasonable working time with the Combiplan. I might try a few experiments with different dilutions or HC110 at dil H.
If it works out I will post the results

Hi Andrew
looking at this as a piece of art and the composition and disregarding anything else, to me the image works far better if cropped above the tree line, i.e. a simple but very decent 'cloud study', fwiw
regards
