Post by more photography » Wed Jan 14, 2009 5:36 pm Etc/GMT-1+01:00

Firstly hope you an excellent time on your Autumn 2008 - Workshop/Gathering proposal, and sorry I was not able to make it, recovering from aknee operation, however now i am mobile and relatively new to LF, was wondering if there was any plans for a spring workshop.

Yes, we have been discussing the idea and are fairly much decided on holding the spring gathering centred in Maldon, Essex, in the second half of April. A more formal announcement will follow when we have sorted out a meeting place.

1. We haven't visited the south-east of England yet
2. Helen Summers and I scouted the area last spring and found plenty to photograph

Yeah! somewhere that won't take me a full day to get there. Have also been eyeing up East Mersea as a possible location which is not very far from Maldon.

That's one of the reasons for choosing Maldon, some of the Glencoe and Northumbria JC disciples need convincing that there is life south of Watford

Wonderful. Helen and I went there and it is certainly one of the sites we are recommending.

I would be really grateful if you could get in touch with me to discuss what we have found and what you know.

Dates for Workshop

Post by Joanna Carter » Tue Feb 10, 2009 9:47 pm Etc/GMT-1+01:00

The Spring Workshop will occur from Friday 24th to Sunday 26th April 2009.

Everyone will need to book their own accomodation, in or around Maldon; we are finalising arrangements for a meeting place.

Could I ask for a quick show of hands of those who are thinking of coming?

Ok - I'll start. Yes - I'm thinking of coming. Not sure if it will be the whole weekend yet though.

....and I usually get very lost as soon as I go north of Bristol but I'm keen to come up and meet everyone, just depends on whether my slave drivers of employers will let me have that weekend off! :D

Count me in - since I am new to LF, I would love to meet you Guys.

Are you planning on meeting and starting Friday morning or evening, in order to take a day holiday.

We usually "officially" meet in the evening of the Friday but this doesn't preclude folks getting together earlier in the day, or even the day before :P Nearer to the time, we will ask you to let us have contact details so that we can keep you informed as to the whys and wherefores of what we are doing.

I'm provisionally interested, Maldon is only a 63 mile run along the M25 then mainly the A12 if I leave straight after work on the Friday, and I haven't been in the area for a few years. I had a day out there once, then I bought my 210 mm lens from someone nearby at South Woodham Ferrers and spent a few hours shooting on the water nearby. I'm just looking at accommodation in Maldon.
