First 5x4 film scanner

Post by mark b » Sat May 03, 2008 5:19 pm Etc/GMT-1+01:00

Any suggestions as to the cheapest entry level scanner for 5x4?
It's looking like the Epson V700, but something cheaper would be good, I only need it to put some images on a web site.

I was looking at the HP Scanjet G4050 Photo Scanner, $179 in the US

Jessops price £199, strange we don't seem to be treated fairly in the UK/EU

Park Cameras had it for £149 during April.

Try to find an Epson 4990; they are still on the market in some places, and it's just about the same as the V7*0...

I have recently changed from the 4990 to the V700 and am using a better scanning film holder ( the same one I was using for the 4990 )

I have found that there is a difference but it is not a massive leap forward.

Consequently I have a 4990 second hand that is available ( without the better scanning film holder !) if you are interested
