Trouble fitting lens to board...

Post by Paul Mitchell » Mon Feb 02, 2009 12:43 pm Etc/GMT-1+01:00

I have a bit of a numpty question to ask all you LF gurus here... I have just bought a very nice Schneider 240mm f9 G-Claron and am trying to attach it to the lens panel. When I attempt to tighten the rear retaining ring with the wrench I cannot move the aperture ring at the front, it seems as though there should be something to create a small space between the front of the panel and the aperture ring enabling it to move freely. Any advice would be gratefully received... and before you ask, yes I did buy the correct sized lensboard.

Best regards

Paul

sounds like the lens hasn't found it's way completely into the hole.. take the retaining ring off. lie the lens flat and place the board on top.. have a look to see if you need to wiggle it around to get it fully pushed on.. also, check for any grub screws that might be getting in the way .. they may not be needed (but keep then anyway)..

Thanks for the reply Tim. I quickly realised that you need to wriggle the board and lens to obtain the correct fit but it still didn't help. I have since been back on to Ffordes and they're going to send me a shim to fit between the lens and board which hopefully should solve the problem.
