I have had a good service from Ffordes and continue to buy certain secondhand items from them (Mamiya 645 items, B+W filters).

I've had good service from Ffordes, except for a Wista 0 board which wasn't where it should have been, and I couldn't get! I do find them a wee bit pricey, but their service is on the whole very good.
Mr Cad - ask them nicely and they'll email you a pic of the item you're interested in along with a fair description - I got a Mount 370 203mm Ektar that way and it was in first class condition . . £40!
MXV - I miss them a lot - they were very reasonable even if their descritions were a bit generous.
Have had very good service and very good items from Peter Loy, and Peter Walnes and Collectable Cameras.
I might well consider the US in the future though as I think LF items tend to be quite overpriced over here.

good to see you following on with this thread Phil - MXV even though it's historical now, I felt often underrated the quality but that's by the by now...................

I do recommend buying from the US, particularly from midwest - there's such a wider choice of equipment over there and I feel that the added knowledge is worth the extrta cost, particularly the shipping and UK taxes etc

Thanks for that Andrew - with regard to MXV, most things I got were truly first class . . .other's (in particular a set of Linhof DDS) were pretty awful. This being said when I bought my DeVere, Paul personally delivered it . . . all the way from them to Dundee - a not inconsiderable trip! They priced their stuff to go as well, which was certainly an advantage. I rather miss them!
I'll definitely consider the States for future stuff though.

thx Phil - if you need any further info regarding US LF dealers, then don't hesitate to send me an email, I've 'amassed' a fair amount of knowledge and I'm very happy to share it around, etc etc

For those of you missing MXV, you might want to keep an eye on this eBay seller.

Andrew - thank you for the offer . . I may very well take you up on that :)
And as for you Peter . . I just had a quick look and indeed it certainly seems to be Paul from MXV. The bit about Protech camera repairs gave it away!
Now if only he could come up with some Super Symmar XL's for £15 like he used to do in the good ol' days
