I refilled my Jobo processor last week and the water is already looking a bit dirty. I put in some algae clear stuff from the local pet shop. Would a bit of bleach also help or will it damage the pump/plastics?
Due to the wonder of the internet, I've read a few conflicting reports.
Also anyone know where you can get hold of the Jobo processor clean, only place I can find it is BHPhoto, and postage makes it a bit expensive. Or is there a cheap alternative?
Keeping water clear in a Jobo processor
Re: Keeping water clear in a Jobo processor
I found over the years that the best way of keeping the water clear is to drain the water tanks after use. It is easy with the smaller processors like the Jobo however if the water tanks are emptied on larger machines it can cause the adjacent tanks to split and leak.
Thin household bleach in very small quantities i.e. I used to use about 5ml to 30 liters of water in a Durst film processor seemed to keep algae under control but the tanks must be flushed thoroughly before processing any film. Agfa, Kodak, Jobo all make chemical cleaners, I don't know if they are designed to clean or inhibit Algae.
Hope this helps

Re: Keeping water clear in a Jobo processor
I have a Jobo CPP which takes 16ltrs of water, any water staying still for a period of time will produce algae, so I empty and clean my processer every time I use it and make sure it is dry, then I know it is clean to use and as it cost me a £1,000 pounds and is no longer available I want it to last for as long as possible, it can be tiresome but I believe it is worth doing.

Inn the documents coming with my Jobo they state that household bleach make their plastic brittle.
