Linhof lens boards
Hello
I am just beginning in 5x4 (should receive my Chamonix anyday now) and have a query regarding Linhof boards. The chamonix takes standard linhof boards, which I was about to order, when I noticed there are two types, centred and off-centred.
Can anyone tell me which would be correct for the chamonix? I assume it would be centred, are there any advantages to getting off-centred boards.
Thanks
Ian

Re: Linhof lens boards
The boards on the chamonix website look to be centered. Offset boards would work fine though if you just add a bit of rise to recenter the lens with respect to the glass.

There are some small spots on the front standard of a Chamonix. Line up the darker coloured spot on the wooden frame with either of the two spots on the metal front standard. The top is for 'off centre' the bottom for 'centred'
FYI the most common board is 'off centre'

When I first looked at the photo, wasn't sure what you meant, but I assume you mean that tiny little circular mark on the bottom right of the standard?

Confusingly in that photo it looks like they've got a centered board lined up with the offcentered mark

I was going to upload the image with the area ringed but for some reason the board wouldn't let me hence this is linked to my image on Flickr.
Dave the board is 'off centre' it's just that I didn't line everything up before taking the pic. It was only meant to show what the front looked like...
