Rannoch Moor/ Glen Coe - looking for sunrise location

Afternoon all

SSIA really. Hoping in just over a week to spend a morning or so around that area and was wondering if someone could pass on some good sunrise locations.

Lastly, where exactly was that old, done a billion times, tree by the river shot? I know the tree is no longer there but was curious to see it in any case.

The tree was about a couple of miles East of the Kings House Hotel. Park in the lay by here https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=glen+c ... n+Coe&z=18 and it's about 100 yards due North from the road.

I managed to get there in the winter of 2010 just after there was a dusting of snow. Not the most creative image I've made but a pleasing souvenir.



Tree or no tree you'll be spoilt for choice at such a beautiful location, have a great trip!

Paul. Thanks for this. Sorry I didn't get around to responding earlier.

Got back yesterday from my time in the UK. Had two trips to Rannoch Moor. One on Sunday and one on Tuesday. The latter was much colder at around -3°c!

your image does make a change to, errr............just one or two others of this well known spot, namely the lighting at the time - at least it's not 'full on saturated blue' for the sky

Thanks Andrew, as I say it was just a souvenir indeed this view cannot be repeated now as the tree, made famous by David Ward, is no more... it blew down earlier this year!

And I never did get to find this (in) famous location when I was there. The lochans were drawing my attention away along with the need to better a photo I'd done of the old Buachaille Etive Mor.

Still, it's not going to go away and Scotland beckons in early March. This time though it's a little of Skye but more of Wester Ross area and north of Ullapool.

I believe that the tree is gone.. storms in 2012 took it and the famous tree at Loch Ba bridge out.

That´s too sad, I loved that tree!
I was there, though it never looked the same as on previous pictures.
