Hi! Has anyone got any 5x4 DDSs they would like to part with?
I've just won 2 on ebay, but can't stand the trauma of it

! The going rate works out about £10 each including postage for Fidelity Elite DDS.
Cheers
Lynne

Lynne,
for that price you can get them used from almost anywhere.
MXV (
www.mxv.co.uk) had decent ones, last time I looked. Ffordes is another option.
Sorry, haven't got any to part with right now

Have you not considered Quickload ?

Hi Joanna
Quickload seems and expensive way of making mistakes!

I have 3 boxes, but would rather save those for when I need a "light" backpack. At the moment I am practising locally, and am quite happy to cart a pile of DDS with me. I can also process the B&W negs myself to see how I'm doing.
I now have 8 DDS, so that should be enough to get be getting on with.
Thanks for the suggestion though.

I have some spare as I use quickload or graflex mostly, how many do you need Lynne?

Hi Sarah!
I have 8 now. The way I am shooting at the moment I don't do more than about 4 exposures on any outing, but that's mainly because I'm just pottering about locally - come August, Somerset isn't the most inspring place for photography, though there's always the odd surprise!
I think 8 will probably be enough, though thanks for the offer, and if I find I'm needing more I'll get back to you. I'm still very much feeling my way with LF.
Cheers,
Lynne

Lynne, have you thought about Grafmatic backs? 6 sheets per back which should take up less space than 3xDDS. The only problem is finding one in decent condition with all the 6 septums inside that doesn't jam up as you operate it...
I have five but have become more and more peeved with some of them for either scratching the film or jamming as I change sheets between shots - eventually you rip out a sheet that's come adrift and hope you haven't ruined too many of the other 5 in the back...
There are some kicking about on eBay but there can be a few that have had a hard life as they haven't been available new for a lot of years.
Quickloads are so much better in many ways but aren't the cheapest way of using film.

Thanks Andrew, I'd never even heard of Grafmatic backs! But from your sales pitch they sound as if they are best avoided
You just don't know how simple I need things to be! I was traumatised trying to use Quickload the first couple of times - in the end I had to destroy one to see what it was doing

At least with DDS I know what's going on.
I haven't really got into full swing with this LF stuff - only had the camera a couple of months, so I've lots of learning still to do.

Nah, just wait until you have loaded one the wrong way, and suddenly hold an empty envelope in your hand...
Grafmatics are great, if they haven't been overused and are treated carefully...

I find that when I'm in full swing, I get a lot of vignetting.
