Package Forwarding from USA?
Package Forwarding from USA?
Hi,
For those of you who purchase from the USA, have any of you used a package forwarding company? I am looking at a company called Access USA, but any recomendations would be appreciated.
I am trying to get an item that costs £20 over there, but will cost £70 here!

You really don't need to use forwarding companies. Simply order the product and get them to send it via USPS. This will then come to your door using either Royal Mail or Parcel Force.
However, on such a low value item, you have to remember that US prices do not include any tax, so expect to pay any import duty plus VAT on importation, although this is not always collected, depending on the carrier.
Nonetheless, if you take the duty of 6.7% on a lens as a guide, a $40 item should cost $50.15 plus P&P when landed. Still considerably cheaper at around £30-£35 instead of £70

XRite, aka Gretag-McBeth, and I don't really have much choice.
I have just got a second hand densitometer and I require some bits for it. I have just managed to order these bits from the UK, or rather XRite UK will dispatch the bits to me, direct from the USA!!! Only £5 postage. And the prices are not as outrageous as I had previously been quoted.
Why I could not order direct from the USA website, I don't know.
I would still like to know of any experisnce with this type of company.

Try Chromix
http://www.chromix.com/
they carry all manner of colour-management equipment, and may be able to help you. You'll probably speak with Rick Hatmaker, he and everyone there are very helpful and quite accustomed to customers having stuff shipped all over the place on short notice ( i.e. ME
)
Update: oops, should read through more, seems you have it sorted now.
