UK source of lensboards

Post by dave_whatever » Tue Apr 21, 2009 10:55 am Etc/GMT-1+01:00

Just a quick one: does anyone know of a reasonably cheap UK source of standard technika/wista type lensboards? Can be a non-brand for all I care, I don't especially need all the little Linhof cutouts and indents.

I know I could get a brand new one for £20+vat+p&p from rob white, but being a yorkshireman I do baulk at paying the topside of twenty quid for a inanimate square of metal with a hole cut in it. I'm actually tempted to make one myself out of hardboard or similar.

On a related note the, if anyone has got a spare 00-size (26.3mm hole) lensboard wanting a good home then don't be shy.

Cheers!

I agree that £20 is too much to pay for a bit of metal covered in flock velvet with a hole cut into it. Much better to pay £51.75 (incl VAT) for an Ebony one. Metal and Ebony wood veneer. Mmmmmm!

Mike Walker makes his own but it will not cost you less than £20.

I suggest you visit eBay, where you might meet with more sucess, especially for the 00 size cutout. Other sources are below:

MVX Photographic (secondhand LF stuff)

Ffordes (secondhand LF stuff)

eBay (LF lens boards)

Love is an Ebony mounted with a Cooke PS945.......

Flock velvet? My existing wista one doesn't even have this. I must admit if I'd known i could get the front of my camera to look like the wallpaper in a 1980s curryhouse I'd have gladly shelled out that 20 quid!

I see I could get a 00 board direct from china for 15 notes, but given than involves playing the "will it arrive before my holiday on mull" lottery, I think robert whites might have just earned themselves another £20 of trade.
