I would like to come too.

But I hope it will not be quite so expensive as the trip to Maldon, Steve let me borrow his Maxwell screen to try it out, the only trouble was he wanted it back.
So went I got home I had to get one, I rang Bill Maxwell ordered the screen now my wallet is a lot thinner, but I must admit it is so much better to use, I can see the rubbish I take so must clearer.

Hello Paul,
Good on you for organising this one. I'll put the date in the diary and barring any last minute disasters, I'll be there. Let me know if you need any organisers/guides as I have a good knowledge of the area. Plenty of places I want to return to, too. If the weather is up to it and if anyone fancies it, I'd be happy to take a party up to the top of the Glyders or something for a dawn shoot (a good level of fitness is required though, as is a head torch).

It would be good if you could come along - I recall you have excellent knowledge of the region. As for the Glyders ... awesome location but not sure that any of us "mere mortals" are up to lugging LF kit up there

Hello Paul A,
I usually take the Miners' track from Pen Y Gwryd (which is a cracking place to stay, if anyone fancies it). The route is a steady climb, quite gentle until the last half-mile which is not steep but very broken. I usually reckon on 2 hours in summer and 3 in winter. We can leave earlier if needed. But let's wait for the weather forecast...

That'll be interesting. I've never taken that route before. Do you think it's easier/better than skirting up past Tryfan and then up to the left of Bristly Ridge? I guess in terms of getting up and back it's not too bad as you don't have to do the trek around to the Devil's Kitchen.

By the way, I met someone carrying a big bag and a tripod at the top of Snowdon in the snow in January a couple of years ago (he moaned that he'd been up several times recently carrying all the gear and hadn't managed to get ANYTHING) - didn't speak to him properly as I was busy being absolutely knackered, but on reflection it was probably a LF guy.... anyone got any ideas who it might have been?

Hello Paul,
Admittedly the start of the Miners' path is a bit boggy, but it's not too bad. I reckon the Miners' path is less steep and less rocky, which I prefer when lugging the LF kit up in the dark. Plus I have never been a great fan of scree.
I have scrambled up and down most of the Glyder ridges (without LF!), but I have never been up the scree by Bristly ridge.
