Velvia 50 in short supply
Have just received this email from the Fuji Pro people...
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Fujifilm Online Shop customer,
Just to clarify the situation with the supply of Velvia 50 film in the UK. Many of you know that it has been in short supply for some months. I can confirm that fresh stocks of Velvia 50, in all popular formats, will be arriving with us from Japan in mid November. This includes:
35mm, 120, 5x4, 5x4 Quickload and 10x8 sizes
Unfortunately, we are now down to our last few rolls of 35mm, but still have reasonable stocks 120 5-packs. In addition we have a few boxes of 5x4 inch, dated June 09, which are on special offer.
We are sorry that there may be a period where Velvia 50 will not be available to purchase from Fujifilm UK directly (other than 120 size). However, some of the photo dealers around the country may still have some Velvia 50. Alternatively, may we suggest you try Velvia 100 or Velvia 100F in the meantime? The results are very similar and you'll gain the advantage of a doubling of film speed (handy in these darker months!).
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm glad I stocked up!
Paul

I take it Fuji don't employ real photographers to write this blurbAlternatively, may we suggest you try Velvia 100 or Velvia 100F in the meantime? The results are very similar

Yes, that would be dreadful (unless you like very red results....)Joanna Carter wrote:I take it Fuji don't employ real photographers to write this blurbAlternatively, may we suggest you try Velvia 100 or Velvia 100F in the meantime? The results are very similar![]()

Re: Velvia 50 in short supply
Although interestingly, www.fujilab.co.uk currently are listing Velvia 50 in quickload - whether you'd get a disappointing email from them the moment you ordered it is the question.
Could they have gotten some early?

I don't think they themselves know what's available... I ordered some of the short dated non QL Velvia a few weeks ago only to be told they were out of stock, a week later it arrived.

Hi,
I ordered 10 boxes of Quickload V50 from B&H in the states, it worked out a little bit more in total but it arrived in less than a week and all totally perfect. I was going crackers trying to find a stockist in the UK and just gave up!

Re: Velvia 50 in short supply
I see the Robert White prices have now returned to more realistic prices and new film will be available in November. Of course, everyone is likely to go mad and order too much and then there'll be a shortage again!

Re: Velvia 50 in short supply
Had an email from Fuji for velvia 50 sheet film today which seems very very good - 10 boxes of 10 sheets for £47.00 delivered with the VAT. 47p a sheet compares very favourably with £4.00 a sheet for QL
Have a few spare holders lurking so have decided to give it a go.... if only for the 'b' sheets.
