Hi,
I'm brand new to LF. But after a trip to Eigg in September with 5 other photographers - all LF (and at least some are members of this forum) I have finally succumbed and sold my MF gear, so I am currently camera-less (boo hoo) while I'm looking out for a LF camera to buy. Hopefully not for too long.... all this snow is killing me
I'm looking forward to becoming a fully-fledged member of the LF community.

Hi Tamara
Welcome - you'll find plenty of help here for life in the Large Format world. I moved from medium format over a year ago - still learning, a bit starting over again in some ways - enjoying it all the way!
Hope it's not too long before you get your first LF camera - have you got something in mind? Or is it on Santa's list and needs to be kept secret..?

Glad to hear you are making progress with the move to LF. Hope you don't regret selling your Hasselblad ...but I'm sure you will take to LF once you find some gear. Do you know what you are looking for?
Look forward to seeing you soon with your new camera. Does that include a new tripod as well?!

Not really, no. Something not too heavy, bulky or overly-complicated
I'm heading over to Linhof and Studio after the new year as it's not too far from me and Paula is going to talk me through my options. Hopefully that will help!

Probably, yes. I don't think my mini tripod will cut it with LF gear

You don't have to go the Linhof route, you know. TK's are brutes. What you really want is a wooden camera. So much more tactile. You just can't beat the feel of well-oiled ebony....

I'm not necessarily going the Linhof route, but hopefully after speaking to her and holding some cameras I'll have a better idea of what I am looking for.

Don't forget that Mike Walker makes cameras which, because he has such a backlog of orders, rarely make it to a dealer. They are robust and light and, possibly less expensive new, than some used cameras. He also does a discount for UKLFPG members.

That's exactly what I said. There are however often good options on eBay for Linhof TK's, or Chamonix. I would avoid Ebony if you are trying to be at all frugal. Whilst they are lovely and a pleasure to use, you can still get a very highly specced camera for much less money.
